Overview
In this time of unparalleled development of sophisticated medical
technology, to be recognized as a leader requires a commitment
to ingenuity and excellence that is as much curiosity as it is
dedication. A willingness to try new ideas is the basis behind
Kensey Nash Corporation's development of unique and innovative
medical products.
Kensey Nash Corporation is a medical device company and
a pioneer in the development of a wide variety of products for
the cardiovascular, endovascular, sports medicine, spine and trauma marketplaces.
Since the Company’s founding
in 1984, more than eighteen million of its products have been implanted in patients,
helping to improve the quality of people's lives worldwide.
Kensey Nash Corporation is a leading developer and manufacturer
of resorbable medical implants. Our capabilities and expertise
have enabled us to develop relationships with several major medical
device companies to whom we provide many hard and soft tissue repair
products. One such example – our successful collaborative
relationship with Orthovita, Inc. – has resulted in the commercial
launch of several bone grafting materials for use in the repair
of spine, osteoporotic fractures and trauma injury.
As the inventor and developer of the Angio-Seal™ Vascular
Closure Device, Kensey Nash Corporation pioneered the concept of
arterial closure and was the first to place a resorbable biomaterial
component into the human vascular system. Today, the Angio-Seal™ device (which is manufactured, marketed and sold by our
licensee St. Jude Medical) is the leading arterial closure device
in the world.
The Company recently announced the sale of its endovascular product line, including its internally developed and commercialized ThromCat™ Thrombectomy System and QuickCat™ Extraction Catheter as well as the Safe-Cross® Radio Requency Total Occlusion Crossing System , acquired in 2006 to Spectranetics Inc.. The company Developed the ThromCat™ Thrombectomy System, a fully disposable mechanical catheter system designed to remove thrombus or blood clots. It uses HeliFlex™ technology to flush, macerate and extract thrombus. Also among the sold endovascular products portfolio was the QuickCat™ Extraction Catheter designed for fresh soft thrombus removal and the Safe-Cross® Radio Fequency Total Occlusion Crossing System for the treatment of Chronic Total Occlusions (CTOs). Please see the Endovascular Products section of this website for more information about these endovascular products.
In addition to its commercialized products, the Company has a robust research and development program that has created significant intellectual property and built technology platforms for products that repair damaged tissues, regenerate bone and cartilage, replace diseased arteries and veins, and deliver drugs, antibiotics, growth factors and other therapies.
At Kensey Nash Corporation, we are committed to bringing to the marketplace new and exciting medical products to improve quality of life and reduce healthcare costs.
