Capabilities

Kensey Nash works with surgeons to determine unmet surgical needs. We then use our breadth of experience and technology platforms to deliver products that fulfill these needs while striving to improve patient outcomes, reduce procedure times and provide better healing. Kensey Nash has a variety of technology platforms used to make biologic grafts or collagen scaffolds for soft tissue repair. Additionally, our mechanical device engineering expertise allows us to create minimally invasive instruments needed to deliver and fix these devices into place.

Biologic Grafts

Our proprietary OPTRIX™ tissue processing technology is used to make extracellular matrix (ECM) products that provide a natural scaffold to reinforce the repair of soft tissue defects. Applications include abdominal wall repair, suture or staple line reinforcement and hernia repair. Because ECM materials provide an ideal environment for cell infiltration and revascularization, they are naturally integrated and remodeled into host tissue. This minimizes complications commonly seen with permanent synthetic meshes and provides surgeons with additional treatment options.

Resorbable Polymers

Kensey Nash’s resorbable polymer technology is used to make resorbable components, either extruded and molded to a specific shape or offered as mesh-like sheet structures. These products support the repair and healing of living tissue, then disappear over time. Proprietary strengthening technology can be added to make components that are strong enough to replace permanent metal parts as a resorbable alternative.

Instrumentation

Kensey Nash can leverage our device design and manufacturing capabilities to create delivery systems and resorbable fixation components. Delivery instruments are used in combination with meshes and grafts to ensure easy and accurate delivery of the devices. Minimally invasive fixation devices can be designed to provide reliable and durable attachment with either resorbable or permanent fixation components.
