Capabilities

Kensey Nash's breadth of experience and technologies fulfill a broad spectrum of spine surgery needs.  Our unique capability of developing products from both synthetic resorbable polymers and naturally derived collagen, allow us to customize materials for specific clinical applications.   For example, as related to spinal fusion, we apply our proprietary porosity technology to synthetic resorbable polymers to make highly compression resistant spinal cages with an open pore structure to allow cellular ingrowth.
Additionally, Kensey Nash creates collagen or polymer-based thin sheets as adhesion barriers, and add strengthening technology to extruded polymer parts to make resorbable plates and screws. These devices are strong enough to replace metal components.
In the future, we envision broadening our capabilities by adding ceramics, growth factors and/or pharmaceutical agents to these to enhance their osteoinductive behavior.
Working with Kensey Nash, our partners can leverage an array of biomaterials, instrumentation, and fabrication capabilities to deliver products that foster enhanced healing of complex spinal injuries.
